Finance for nature-negative activity
Large financial flows continue to support economic activities associated with biodiversity loss, ecosystem degradation and other pressures on nature.
Why it matters
Capital can amplify environmental harm or recovery, but a financial flow is not the same thing as a project outcome and must be classified carefully.
What the sources establish
UNEP's State of Finance for Nature 2026 reports that global finance to nature-negative activities remains far larger than finance to nature-based solutions.
